About the Artist

Composer, L.A. Dierker's work includes compositions for chamber and symphonic ensembles, piano and voice.

Recently completed works include In Memoriam, A String Quartet Inspired by Three Poems, and Whether or Not: Homage to the New England Seasons, a Passacaglia for Wind Ensemble.

Works within the genre of electroacoustic music have included soundscapes of both the natural world and the world of human activity.

Collaborations with choreographers Rebecca Patek and Liza Clark of Mascher Dance, Philadelphia, have resulted in sound scores performed at a variety of venues including the Mulberry Street Theater in New York City, and the Fringe and GLUE Festivals in Philadelphia.

A graduate of the Longy School of Music, Cambridge, Massachusetts, Dierker received the Master of Music degree in Composition, with Distinction, in 2002. Also earned was a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, summa cum laude, from Keene State College, Keene, New Hampshire, in 1996.

In February 2005, Dierker received a fellowship from the The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and in January 2004 was Artist in Residence at Keene State College, Keene, New Hampshire.

Maintaining a studio in New Hampshire, Dierker continues to explore the integration of sound and sight in compositional and multimedia works.
